Where NOT to have coffee...
Never, ever, under no circumstances have coffee at any of the following places:
1. Appel se Ma, Stellenbosch
2. MaxNewYorkLife, Gurgaon
3. Wimpy, anywhere
4. Mugg&Bean (veral daai groot sopkom wat jy self moet optop met flou kasaterwater)
5. Economic class (any airline)
6. Business class (most airlines except Emirates)
7. Clipper lounge, Mumbai airport
8. Anywhere where you could also have good red wine!
9. "Gat" from the Karoo (contributed by Heksie)

Please perform a service to me and all of mankind by warning us about the worst coffee experience you've ever had!

Zebra Crossing in Hermanus het loshande die beste koffie in die land, fantasties iron brew goeters wat maak so sterk is jy kan nie jou oge eers knip na die tyd nie. En mens ryk dit meters ver. Dis fantasties.
Maar hulle het ook die kakste diens in die we^reld - wanneer die kelners jou nie ignoreer nie, kyk hulle jou uit asof jy 'n 'chif thang gemaak het.
Hoe nou, moet mens maar die sleg kelners verdra vir die koffie. Of moet jy maar eerder by die Wimpy af in die pad gaan koffie drink, waar hulle darem nice is?
Ek hoop jy sit die kolonel se koffie as 'n hoogtepunt op jou lys
Enige sigorei mengsel soos uit daai bruin en geel blikke wat mense voorhou as kitskoffie, o aardetjie tog dis sleg! Dit lyk soos vulkaan as en proe nie veel anders nie...
En dan is daar die goed wat hulle "gat" noem in die Karoo, 'n mens is baie desperaat en dors (miskien ook so bietjie bang dat die kwaai Soustannie jou gaan laat buite slaap as jy nee sê!) voordat jy jou mond daaraan sit, face dit.

Guidelines on how to answer trick questions by Prof...
a. first identify that you are dealing with a trick question!
(the combination of Prof's hoofseun photo and a question in any blog entry is a good indication)
b. ponder all the possible outcomes and trade-off's (preferably over a cup of good coffee)
c. pick the lesser of two evils
d. check answer (ensuring that it is never 'the Wimpy'*)
e. Post reply
f. Wait for Willem's irrelevant/ illogical comment
g. Wait for the sage advise from someone like Heksie or Ren who has an ability to 'cut through the crap' and identify & answer the real underlying life question!
h. Thank Ren/ Heksie/ Prof, ignore Willem/Appel
*unless the question contained the words 'breakfast', 'early morning', 'road trip' and 'refuel @ EngenOneStop' but still advise against the coffee!
Back to Prof's original question:
It is obvious that good service can enhance any cafe/ restaurant excursion but do you go there for the waiters or the food/ coffee?
(perhaps you should not answer that here)
Compliment them on their coffee (mention that you read about it on the bloggosphere perhaps!)
Speak to the manager/ owner.
If all else fails, bribe them with a HUGE tip to be nice/ more efficient!
Don't go to the Wimpy!
Miskien gaan ek nou my ouderdom wys hier, maar ek is verbaas dat niemand nog oor "daai eerste koppie sawwe lyf" geskryf het nie. NIKS beat dit nie! My bone van smaak op die oomblik: Lavazza se rooi pakkie. En what gives met die kelners wat jou laat wag? Daar is baie maniere om 'n vinnige koppie koffie te kry, Proffie. En Christo is absoluut reg, om Wimpy toe te gaan is nie 'n opsie nie. In Hermanus se Wimpy sit en kyk jy in elk geval in die Dros en die straat vas as ek reg onthou.
Lavazza is GREAT! Wat sal ek tog nie gee om dit hier in India te kry nie!
Persoonlik 'smokkel' ek illy se 'espresso' in van Suid Afrika-af (ook 'n rooi deksel!) en as dit opraak, wat selde gebeur want mens kan BAIE blikke in 'n half le"e tas inkry, slaan ek oor na India se Dark Forest...
